Firstly, the first agricultural university of India was established here in year 1960. Secondly, it houses the Pantnagar Airport of Kumaon region. Previously known as Uttar Pradesh Agricultural University, or Pantnagar University, is now named as Govind Ballabh Pant University of Agriculture Technology . Pantnagar Airport is a domestic Airport which is operated by Airport Authority of India. Pantnagar Airport is the nearest Airport to the hills of Kumaon region of Uttarakhand state.
