Gangotri and Yamunotri are the originating places of two rivers Ganga and Yamuna respectively. Thus, these two destinations hold a high place in Hinduism. As per Hindu Mythology, Gangotri is a place where King Bhagirath performed penance after which River Ganga came down on the earth. Yamunotri is the place where pilgrims seek the blessings of Yamuna, who is the sister of Yama, the God of death.

Gangotri Yamunotri Do Dham Yatra takes the spiritual tourists to these two sacred destinations. The major destinations covered are Haridwar, Barkot, Uttarkashi, Hanumanchatti, Yamunotri, Gangotri, Rishikesh, and Harsil. One can also visit Dehradun and Mussorie on the route and enjoy nature's exquisiteness. Trek to Yamunotri will start from Janki Chatti while Gangotri is accessible through driving as well. This tour offers the tourists a great blend of spirituality and nature exploration. when Lord Shiva released the mighty river from the locks of his hair. The temple of Gangotri, dedicated to Goddess Ganga stands on the bank of the river. Yamunotri is situated in the western region of the Garhwal Himalayas and is at a height of 3,235 meters above sea level. Yamunotri is the source of the river Yamuna. The shrine of Yamunotri is located on the Bandar Poonch peak.

Package Itinerary

Day 01: Delhi - Haridwar (230 kms/6hrs)

Arrival Delhi Railway Station / Airport / Hotel, Meet & Assist further drive to Haridwar. Later drive to Haridwar transfer to your Hotel. Visit Har-ki-Pauri for Ganga Aarti in evening. Back to your hotel, Dinner and Night halt.

 Day 02: Haridwar - Barkot (220kms/7hr)

Driive to Barkot via Dehradun & Mussoorie. Enroute visit Kempty Fall and others later drive straight to your Hotel for Dinner and night halt.

 Day 03: Barkot - Yamunotri - Barkot {36kms drive & 7kms Trek (one side)}

Drive to Hanuman Chatti, from here you have to take local jeeps for Janki chatti (It helps to reduce the trek upto 8 kms), trek start from here to Yamunotri
(6kms). Either by walk or by horse or by Doli at own cost. Arr. Yamunotri, One can cook rice by packing it in a cloth and dipping it in the hot water of the hot kund. Pilgrims take this cooked rice home as "Prasad". Here near the temple "Pooja" can be offered to Divya Shila, After taking bath in Jamunabai Kund's warn water and having "Darshan" of pious "Yamunaji" returning to Hanumanchatti. Later drive back to Barkot. Dinner and Overnight stay at Hotel.

 Day 04: Barkot - Uttarkashi (100kms/4hr)

Drive to Uttarkashi via Barkot. Check in Hotel, Later visit Vishwanath Temple. Dinner and  Night Halt.

Day 05: Uttarkashi - Gangotri - Uttarkashi (100kms/3hr each side)

We proceed to Gangotri (3048 mts), enroute we enjoy picturesque Harsil village, Bhagirathi River and the most magnificent view of the Himalayas. After Gangotri Darshan we return to Uttarkashi. Dinner and overnight stay at Uttarkashi.

 Day 06: Uttarkashi - Rishikesh - Haridwar (170kms/6hr)

Drive to Rishikesh/Haridwar. Check in Hotel. At evening visit Ganga Aari at Parmarth Niketan. Dinner and Overnight stay at Hotel.

Day 07: Rishikesh - Haridwar - Delhi (250kms/7hr)

Drive back to Delhi. On Arr. Delhi, transfer to Railway Station / Airport.

Reaching Gangotri in Uttarakhand is straightforward and supported by extensive multimodal connectivity, linking the destination with Delhi, regional transit junctions, and major cities across northern India.

By Air (Aviation Hubs): The nearest primary airport is Jolly Grant Airport, Dehradun (IATA Code: DED), situated roughly 190 km away (5 to 6 hours drive). Regular domestic flights link the airport with Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, and major state capitals - pre-paid airport taxi booths provide reliable direct transfers to central Gangotri for about ₹3,500–₹4,800.

By Train (Rail Connectivity): The closest major railway junction is Rishikesh / Haridwar Junction (IRCTC Station Code: YNRK / HW), located 180 km away (5 to 6 hours drive). The station is served by frequent high-speed express trains, including Vande Bharat Express (22457/22458), Shatabdi Express (12017/12018), Jan Shatabdi, Hemkunt Express (14609/14610). Pre-paid auto-rickshaws, shared taxis, and private app-based cabs operate round the clock outside station exits.

By Road (Highways & Expressways): Gangotri is connected via NH-7 / NH-107 (Badrinath & Kedarnath National Highway Corridors). The driving distance from New Delhi is approximately 430 km (9 to 11 hours), with smooth expressway and highway corridors. UTC and GMOU (Garhwal Motor Owners Union) buses operate daily services connecting major Garhwal pilgrim hubs. State transport corporations and private operators run daily sleeper, semi-sleeper, and AC Volvo buses connecting all nearby commercial hubs.
