Barkot is one of the important place located in the Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand. Barkot is a best hill station in Uttrakhand placed in the higher Himalayan ranges. Barkot is receives the water from holy rivers, like Ganga and Yamuna. Yamunotri dham is 50km from Barkot. Lots of peoples comes for Yamnotri pilgrimage. You can easly see spectacular peaks of Banderpuch and other biger Himalaya ranges from Barkot.

Day 01:  Haridwar – Barkot (215 Kms, 8 Hours Approx.)

Pick-up from Haridwar Railway Station, Drive to Barkot via Dehradun & Mussoorie. Enroute visit Kempty Fall and on arrival check-in hotel. Overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 02:  Barkot – Yamunotri – Barkot (42 Kms & 5 Kms Trek) Each Side

Early morning drive to Jankichatti (42 kms), start 5 kms trek from Janki chatti to Yamunotri either by walk, doli or by horse at own cost. On arrival at Yamunotri take bath in hot kund then go for temple darshan, after having temple darshan you can also cook rice by packing it in a cloth and dipping it in the hot water of the hot kund. Pilgrims take this cooked rice back to home as “prasad”. After this back down to Jankichatti and then proceed to barkot. Overnight stay at hotel.

Day 03: Barkot – Rishikesh/Haridwar Drop (220kms/7hr)

Early morning, Drive straight to Rishikesh on arrival visit Laxman Jhula, Ram Jhula & Parmarth Niketan later Drop at Railway Station/Airport.

By Air:

Jolly Grant Airport (Airport Code: DED - Dehradun - 150 km south) operates daily direct flights to New Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Lucknow, Ahmedabad, and Hyderabad. Taxis and private hill cabs are available at the airport arrivals to reach Barkot in 4.5 to 5 hours via Dehradun Mussoorie Naugaon or Vikasnagar Damta route.

By Train:

Barkot is served by two major railheads in Uttarakhand:

• Dehradun Railway Station (Station Code: DDN - 125 km): Connected by Vande Bharat, Shatabdi, and Mussoorie Express from New Delhi.
• Rishikesh / Yog Nagari Rishikesh (Station Code: YNRK - 160 km): Direct trains from major Indian metros.
• Mountain taxis, shared hill jeeps, and rental cabs operate continuously from Dehradun and Rishikesh to Barkot.

By Road:

• From Delhi (~360 km / 7.5 to 8.5 hours): Via Delhi Dehradun Expressway, Vikasnagar, Herbertpur, Kalsi, Damta, Naugaon, and Barkot (NH-507).
• From Mussoorie (~90 km / 3 hours): Via Kempty Falls, Nainbagh, Damta, and Naugaon.
• From Uttarkashi (~80 km / 2.5 hours): Via Radhi Pass (NH-134).
• From Janki Chatti / Yamunotri (~40 km / 1.5 hours): Direct mountain highway via Hanuman Chatti and Syanachatti.
• Regular UTC and GMOU buses depart from Dehradun (Hill Bus Station / Mussoorie Bus Stand) and Rishikesh ISBT.

Local Transport:

Shared jeeps, mountain taxis, and private rental cars provide regular transport between Barkot, Naugaon, Syanachatti, and Janki Chatti.

Barkot features a revered collection of Himalayan shrines, snow viewpoints, thermal hot springs, and scenic valley trails:

1. Yamunotri Dham & Sacred Black Marble Shrine of Goddess Yamuna (46 km)

Perched at an altitude of 3,291 meters in the Higher Himalayas, **Yamunotri Temple** is the westernmost shrine of the Char Dham. Dedicated to Goddess Yamuna, the temple houses a black marble idol of the deity. Constructed by Maharaja Pratap Shah of Tehri Garhwal, the temple stands adjacent to the rushing glacial streams of the holy Yamuna River, accessed via a scenic 6 km trek from Janki Chatti.

2. Bandarpoonch Peak (6,316 m) & Himalayan Snow Viewpoint (Yamuna Ridge)

The majestic Bandarpoonch (*Monkey's Tail*) mountain massif dominates the northern horizon of Barkot with three prominent summits: Bandarpoonch I (6,316 m), White Peak (6,102 m), and Kalanag (6,387 m). Associated in Hindu mythology with Lord Hanuman extinguishing his tail, the snow peaks form the glacial watershed of both the Yamuna and Ganga river basins.

3. Janki Chatti Base Camp & Rejuvenating Thermal Hot Springs (40 km)

Located 40 km from Barkot at an elevation of 2,650 meters, Janki Chatti is the final motorable roadhead and base camp for the Yamunotri trek. Famous for natural thermal sulfur springs where pilgrims bathe to relieve fatigue, it provides pony and palanquin (*doli*) services, mountain hotels, and prayer stalls for the pilgrimage.

4. Yamuna River Valley & Terraced Organic Apple Orchards of Barkot

The fertile valley surrounding Barkot is carpeted with terraced mountain farms, babbling fresh water streams, and organic apple, apricot, and walnut orchards. Visitors can enjoy peaceful riverside walks, village interactions, and sample freshly picked Royal Delicious apples during the late summer harvest.

5. Surya Kund Thermal Spring & Divya Shila Rock Sanctum (Yamunotri)

A natural thermal hot water spring within the Yamunotri temple complex with boiling temperatures of 88°C. Devotees tie raw rice or potatoes in muslin bags and dip them into the steaming mineral water, where they cook in minutes to be taken home as sacred *prasad*.

6. Hanuman Chatti & Confluence of Yamuna and Hanuman Ganga Rivers (33 km)

A scenic river hamlet at the confluence of the Yamuna and Hanuman Ganga rivers (altitude: 2,400 m), featuring a sacred Hanuman temple and starting trails for the Darba Top and Dodi Tal treks.

7. Radhi Top (Radi Pass) & High-Altitude Deodar Panorama (25 km en route Uttarkashi)

A high mountain pass situated at 2,250 meters along the Barkot-Uttarkashi highway, offering expansive views of snow peaks, deodar woods, and roadside tea stalls.

8. Lakhamandal Ancient Pandava Temple & 100,000 Shivalingas (45 km - Jaunsar)

A protected ASI heritage temple site in the Jaunsar Bawar region associated with the Mahabharata Lakshagriha episode, housing graphite and stone Shivalingas and exquisite rock carvings.
