Yadagiri is a City and the administrative headquarters of Yadagiri district in the Indian state of Karnataka. It is also the administrative headquarters of Yadagiri Taluku, one of the three talukas of the district. Yadagiri, historically known as Yetagiri, it is dotted with many historical monuments and has a majestic hill fort with three rounds of fortifications. There are three ancient temples, medieval mosques, tanks and wells on top of the hill. The barren landscape below offers a magnificent view. A tank, the Sanna Kere is located in the heart of the town. It is also one of the high-altitude cities in the region, with an elevation of 1276 m above sea level. In earlier times, this town formed a part of the Western Chalukya Dynasty. Its name is derived from one of the early medieval rulers of this region, the Yadavas. After the Yadava reign, it was ruled for many years by Mohammed Kasim. The Bahamani Sultanate in this region eventually gave way to the Nizams of Hyderabad. The town of Yadgir is spread over a total area of 5.6 sq km and is a passing point of the Bhima and Krishna rivers. Apart from being sources of water, these rivers also provide scope for industrialisation of the region. Presently, it is home to a sugar and fuel industry.



The most popular attraction of the place is a hill fort that has three rounds of fortifications. Apart from this, there are three ancient temples, several medieval mosques, tanks and wells situated on the hill top. The popular tank of Sanna Kere is also located in the heart of this town. It’s about 70 kms from Gulbarga, sleeping Buddha hill is made up of four hills looks like a sleeping Buddha this is a nature’s gift and a tourist attraction.
