Ranebennuru is the City Municipal Council in Haveri district in Karnataka, India. It is popularly known as the "Gate Way to North Karnataka". The Name of the city is derived from the term Rani-bennuru literally meaning Queen's resting place. It is situated about 300 Kms North West of Bangalore. One of Karnataka's most important rivers – the Tungabhadra – flows along the southern border of Ranebennur taluk. Another river, the Kumadvathi, which originates from Madagh Masur Lake flows from Hirekerur taluk, enters Ranebennur taluk, and joins the Tungabhadra river.



Ranebennur Blackbuck Deer Sanctuary also called in Kannada as Krishna Shri Sumatinath Jain Swetambara Jain Temple, Ranebennur Mrugha Abhyaranya,is located just 6-8 km away from Ranebennur city. This sanctuary is one of the only few Black buck deer sanctuaries in India. The sanctuary is also inhibited by highly endangered The Great Indian Bustard, but haven't been noticed in the recent past.
