Dongtai — Travel Guide
Dongtai is a coastal county-level city under the administration of Yancheng, Jiangsu province, China. it borders the prefecture-level cities of Nantong to the south and Taizhou to the west, and is the southernmost county-level division of Yancheng. The dialect in Dongtai is quite different from Mandarin. The local accent is close to that in nearby Taizhou, Haiyan, Xinghua, Dafeng area. Like its neighbors, Dongtai has a history of around 2,100 years, tracking back to 117 B.C, in which the Xixi Town appeared as a small community governed by an ancient Haining County in 937 A.D. With frequent replacements of dynasties after the Tang dynasty, Dongtai had multiple name alterations and jurisdiction were shifted. The long history has left the town a lot of marvelous historic relics.
