Lataguri is a small village situated in the Jalpaiguri District of West Bengal. It is located on the outskirts of Gorumara National Park. Full of dense forests and reverie grassland, the region is home to many species of flora and fauna. Scenic beauty is the first and last word for Lataguri. Gorumara jungle is a very precious place for a nature and wildlife lovers.There is a thick lining of Gorumara National Park along the eastern side of the Lataguri village and from the rooms different wild lives can be seen such as one horned Rhino, elephants, bison, deer and peacocks etc. This park is located in the Dooars Region of Jalpaiguri district. River Murti, Jaldhaka and Ingdong have passed through this national park.

The wildlife, in Rhinos, consists of wild Elephants, Deer, Sambhar, Barking Deer, Spotted Deer and Hog Deer, wild Pig, Gour and a number of Birds, Peafowls, etc. Lataguri is the nearest small Tourist Strip near Gorumara National park. Tourist may visit Gorumara National Park in day time staying at Lataguri. Day visit permission to the National Park may be obtained from Lataguri. Full of dense forests and riverine grassland, the region is home to many species of flora and fauna. During the visit of Hiuen Tsang to Assam, the major part of the region was under the kingdom of Kamrupa. The kingdom extended up to River Karatoya and also included Duars.

Package Itinerary

Day 01: NJP Rly Station / IXB Airport – Jaldapara (135 kms / 4 hrs)

Meet & Greet on arrival at NJP Railway Station / IXB Airport & transfer to Jaldapara. On arrival Check-in to hotel & rest of the day at leisure. Overnight stay at Jaldapara.

Day 02: : Jaldapara Wild Life Sanctuary (Elephant / Jeep Safari)–Lataguri / Chalsa (58 kms / 1 hrs)

Early morning at 06:00 hrs visit Jaldapara Wild Life Sanctuary on back of the Elephant / by Jeep (as per availability). Back to hotel for breakfast. Transfer to Lataguri / Chalsa. Overnightstay at Lataguri / Chalsa.

Day 03: Gorumara National Park (Jungle Watch Tower) + Local Sightseeing + Jungle Watch Tower

Early morning at 06:00 hrs visit Gorumara National Park (Watch Tower) by Jeep. Back to hotel for breakfast. After breakfast visit Samsing, Suntalekhola & Murti River side. In afternoon visit another Watch Tower by Jeep. Overnight stay at Lataguri / Chalsa.

Day 04: Lataguri / Chalsa – NJP Rly Station / IXB airport (80 kms / 3 hrs)

After breakfast Check-out from hotel and take the departure transfer to NJP Railway Station / IXB airport for your onward journey.

  • Bagdogra International Airport (Airport Code: IXB - 85 km / 2 hours drive via Gajoldoba Expressway or NH-27): Major domestic airport connected to Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai, Bangalore, and Hyderabad.

By Road:

  • From Siliguri / NJP (~50 km / 1.5 hours): Via Sevoke Coronation Bridge and NH-717 through Malbazar, or via the scenic Gajoldoba Teesta Barrage forest road.
  • From Kolkata (~610 km / 12 hours): Via NH-12 through Siliguri.
  • North Bengal State Transport Corporation (NBSTC) and private tourist taxis operate frequently from Siliguri, Jalpaiguri, and Malbazar directly to Lataguri.
