Itanagar is the capital of the north-eastern state of Arunachal Pradesh. The city is also identified as Mayapur, erstwhile capital of the Jitri dynasty, established in the 11th century. Ita Fort, the chief historic testament of the region, it was built during the 14th or 15th century by King Ramachandra. Itanagar, is one of the two regions of the ‘Land of Dawn Lit Mountains’, the other being Naharlagun. Rich culture, tribal heritage and values dating back to several centuries are some of the most distinguished things to witness. The region is a dwelling place of diversified English, Aptani, Hindi, Assamese, Nishi and Adi speaking communities. The Nishis or Nishings is the major tribe in Itanagar area.
The township is situated at 350 metres above mean sea level. It comes administratively under Papumpare district. The Nishis or Nishings is the major tribe in Itanagar area. The city is shrouded with snow capped mountains that offer breathtaking picturesque. During the visit the Polo Park, Lake Ganga Sekhi Lake, Buddhist temple and Gayker Sinyi. Later in the evening visit the local markets of Itanagar and enjoy your shopping. Drive back to the hotel and Over Night Stay in Hotel. |
